Treklövern
Out of respect for the nature that once existed at the location of the intended water tower, I envision a tribute to it. I imagine a clearing that once occupied the elevation where the tower is now meant to stand. A clearing where the void that existed before has been transformed into mass, extruded vertically towards the sky. The clearing that was previously hidden in the forest is now elevated and visible from a distance. A reminder of the passage of time and the changing nature. The surface of the tower bears impressions of the trunks of the surrounding trees. These create a repetitive yet organic structure on the facade of the tower. The overall plan form is a simplification of the previous extent of the clearing. Three circles have been merged to form the outer shape of a trefoil. The shape evokes a sense of curiosity as you move around it. It is varied yet repetitive, just like nature. The tower is cast in concrete, where the concave imprints from tree trunks have a smooth surface in contrast to the spaces between them, which have a coarser texture. Around the tower, stones from the excavations required to place it have been saved and scattered. These create an intriguing environment that also serves as a reminder of what was here before. The road to the water tower has been widened, and a turning area near the entrance has been constructed.
