Locus
Cultural environments create identity and community. They provide a context in which we gain an understanding of our background and history. Without these, we become identity-less. These places create a vital framework for social sustainability, which in the long run also benefits the environment.
Locus means place, which is precisely what my project is about. The structure is a shell within which things can happen. The shell/Locus is also placed in a historical context, which further contributes to perspectives and encounters. The structure is consistently made of timber in standard dimensions to minimize waste as much as possible. The design is inspired by the structural framework of Hedmanska gården. The fact that the needs of rooms and buildings change over time is hardly news. Therefore, it is important not to corner oneself with overly specific programs and solutions. Locus can therefore be programmed and transformed in several different ways.
